  • Dr. Gayatri Dadheech, Senior Technical Leader, General Motors
  • Roger Lanctot. Director Automotive Connected Mobility, Strategy Analytics
  • Chuck Milligan, CEO, FlexEnable

Automotive Display Market and Technology Outlook Presenters

Each presenter’s talk is summarized below:

  • Kristin Kolodge, Executive Director, Driver Interaction and HMI, JD Power
    • The ultimate judge of performance is the consumer, so what are they saying about the displays within their vehicle? Hear about J.D. Power’s latest consumer research regarding automotive displays – what is going right, where the pain points and what are they interested in next?
  • Kyle Davis, Technical Research and Data Analyst, IHS Markit
    • Kyle will be speaking on a general overview of the entire automotive displays market. This will include Center-Stack Displays, Instrument Clusters, and Head-Up Displays. Additionally, Kyle will speak on other forms of User Interface, such as Virtual Personal Assistants, Haptic Feedback, Keyless Entry, and Gesture Recognition. Lastly, Kyle will be going over forecast projections before and after the COVID-19 Pandemic to see how the automotive industry has been affected thus far, and what to expect going forward after the pandemic.
  • Dr. Gayatri Dadheech, Senior Technical Leader, General Motors
    • Dr. Dadheech will discuss ink jet printing of nanoparticles and quantum dots for automotive display applications and GM’s technical work in this area.
  • Roger Lanctot. Director Automotive Connected Mobility, Strategy Analytics
    • Roger will review the outlook for in-vehicle automotive displays including size, orientation, location, number, enabling technologies, vehicle architectures and key applications for a mobility-centric world.
  • Chuck Milligan, CEO, FlexEnable
    • Chuck will discuss the trends, challenges and opportunities for curved in-vehicle displays:
      • Increased vehicle automation, connectivity and safety require more and larger displays which conform to the curved surfaces of the car.
      • A new glass-free display technology - OLCD - meets these requirements by using the traditional LCD architecture which is proven for automotive-grade reliability and brightness but on a flexible organic backplane
      • OLCD also meets the demand for ever increasing contrast for automotive displays. As it is extremely thin, OLCD is particularly suited for the dual cell displays – an approach that drastically boosts contrast to 1 million : 1 whilst retaining OLCD’s ability to conform to surfaces.
      • Flexible liquid crystal cells allow other surfaces in the car to be activated, including colour-neutral, rapidly switchable smart window films that can be biaxially conformed to the glazing.

The Automotive Display Market and Technology Outlook session is just 1 of the 9 sessions in the SID/DSCC Business Conference but will highlight one of the most attractive applications in the display industry. Attendees will access presentations by the leading analysts and executives in the display industry covering the most important market and technology developments in displays. Display Week 2020 will take place from August 3-7 as an entirely virtual event. Attendee registration can be found at: http://displayweek.org/2020/Attendee/Registration.aspx.
