Title: Next Generation Optics for the Automotive Ecosystem
Abstract: Head-up displays (HUDs) are gaining mainstream adoption in cars just as discussions and demonstrations of autonomous vehicles are gaining momentum. At the same time LEDs are fully penetrating the exterior lighting market. These three major trends in the automotive market require a new generation of optics to enable 1) low-volume, wide field-of-view HUD, 2) eye-safe, long range LIDAR, and 3) aesthetically pleasing, efficient headlight and taillight designs. We will discuss thin-film optical solutions for all three of these automotive applications. Bio: Seth graduated from Brown University with an Sc.B. in electrical engineering and received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). An expert in quantum dot materials and devices for solid state lighting and displays, Dr. Coe-Sullivan holds numerous patents relating to quantum dots (QDs) and organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) and is a frequent invited speaker on the subject. His doctoral thesis led to the formation of QD Vision, a leader in quantum dot technology for QLED™ displays and a company he helped found. Dr. Coe-Sullivan has a proven ability to bring complementing products and technologies together and his role at Luminit includes intellectual property strategy, technical marketing and business development.
