How to Create New Value in Display Industry
The TV industry is facing downturn and we are now at the era of industry 4.0 where display will be at the center of communication and OLED will be the most suitable display for industry 4.0 with its core characteristics - everywhere, any form, and expandability for all kinds of applications. OLED will continue creating new value as the game changer to rebound the TV market.
Stephen Ko (Kyu Young Ko) is currently the Vice President and Head of Global Promotion Division at LG Display, a leading innovator of OLED and LCD technology. Working in the Display Industry for 24 years, Ko's expertise includes market analysis of the CRT/LCD/OLED field and has implemented Investment/Customer/Product Strategies.
In 1995, he started his career in the Sales & Marketing Division of the Display BU at LG Electronics, where he initiated marketing projects for TVs, monitors and notebook PCs.
Prior to joining LG Display, Mr. Ko worked as a sales strategy manager in Chief Sales Officer Group at the Hong Kong HQ of LG Philips Displays and then he served as Head of Global Business Intelligence from 2006 to 2009.
After LG Display acquired LG Philips Displays, Mr. Ko started working in the Corporate Marketing Division. He led the efforts to explore TV/IT/Mobile/Auto market, and proposed strategic directions of the company. He played a critical role in taking preemptive measures for the company.
From 2016 to 2018, he was in charge of the Marketing Division of TV BU, focusing TV Marketing and has suggested how the TV market can be developed with OLED. From 2019, he has been working as Head of Global Promotion Division, which focuses on creating a new value of OLED through strategic communication.
Mr. Ko holds an MBA from SoGang University where he majored in marketing.
