Abstract: Displays have become a major differentiation factor for car manufacturers. Evidence suggests high-resolution, high contrast ratio, large displays attract potential car purchasers.OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) is a possible candidate, however, due to high cost, not able to automotive qualify yet, not able to meet automotive temperature range and not enough maximum luminance, it is hard to use OLED in automotive. The use of local-dimming displays is an effective way to achieve high contrast ratio while maintaining reasonable cost and high reliability. Functionally-safe displays are essential to guarantee driver and passenger safety as well as the safety of other road users. In this presentation, we will focus on local dimming LED driver as well TFT Bias with advanced diagnostics features to enable ASIL B level functional safety displays.
Bio: Szu-Kang Hsien is the executive business manager responsible for automotive display power management and gesture solutions at Maxim Integrated. Before Maxim, he worked at Texas instruments for 9 years, first started as analog and mixed signal designer, afterwards became automotive systems marketing engineer focusing on infotainment segment and then strategic marketing manager responsible for wide input voltage DCDC products. He has 6 US patents and published 6 technical papers. He has been very successful in setting direction to the product line, driving customers in adopting new products and solutions and win new customers that haven’t won before. “Redefining the possible” is his motto.
