Yoshio Tamura Joins Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) as Co-Founder and Asia President
Austin, TX -
Yoshio Tamura, a 26-year veteran of liquid crystal display (LCD) market research and consulting, has joined Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) as Co-Founder and President of Asia Operations.
Mr. Tamura will be based in Tokyo. He is one of the foremost authorities on the LCD market and its supply chain. He has deep and extensive contacts throughout the display industry and has pioneered numerous innovative reporting and forecasting methodologies. He launched LCD market coverage for Techno Systems Research in 1990 and grew it rapidly over 10 years. In 2000, he joined DisplaySearch as Senior Vice President and Founder of DisplaySearch Asia where he played a critical role in launching a large number of highly popular LCD-related reports. Mr. Tamura developed or co-developed the company’s core reports on large-area LCD shipments and forecasts by application as well as reports on fab utilization, pricing, costs, cost models, margin models, glass substrates, color filters, backlights and driver ICs.
After The NPD Group acquired DisplaySearch in 2005, Mr. Tamura acquired the title of SVP and Fellow to recognize the critical role he played in developing innovative report methodologies. After IHS acquired DisplaySearch in 2014, he became a Senior Director and Advisor within the Display Technology Group and recently left IHS Markit to join DSCC. According to DSCC Founder Ross Young, “I am thrilled to be working with Yoshi again and am excited to have him as Co-Founder and President of Asian Operations at DSCC. We worked closely together from 2000 to 2008, launching a large number of DisplaySearch’s most valuable LCD reports, and I am confident we will be able to produce a growing number of highly influential reports on OLEDs and other advanced display technologies at DSCC. We believe Mr. Tamura’s move to DSCC will result in many more hires in Asia as we introduce a growing number of reports, consulting projects and events.”
The first new report Mr. Tamura will co-develop is the company’s new Quarterly OLED Supply/Demand and Capital Spending Report and Model. The report will include OLED demand by application, size and form factor, OLED fab schedules, yield calculations, capacity and capacity scenarios while also sizing the OLED equipment market including sizing and determining market share for the evaporaton and thin film encapsulation markets. The model will allow users to enter a given panel size and form factor such as rigid, flexible, rollable and foldable and determine the resulting impact on OLED supply/demand. This report will prove to be critical for anyone tracking the implications of new OLED form factors on demand and the outlook for OLED manufacturers, OLED materials suppliers and OLED equipment producers.
