The adoption of MiniLED technology will gain significant momentum in 2021 as Samsung and Chinese brands launch LCD TVs with MiniLED backlights. Samsung is said to be targeting sales of 2M units. Entry-level MiniLED backlights LCD TVs with POB will have a cost advantage over OLED TVs and will be able to penetrate into the QDEF (QD LCD) market, while still being more expensive than conventional LCD TVs.
Specification on MiniLED backlights is quite diversified & chaotic (#LEDs, dimming zones, OD) at the initial stage. But it seems that spec is getting converged. Having affordable costs with reasonable performance becomes the main consideration on design.
